MY FIRST FLIGHT LESSON

I did it!

While my husband flew with his cousin and his girlfriend to Wangen-Lachen, I flew as well, At least a little. Unbeliveble, I'm still thinking that I didn´t do anything beside sitting on the left (!) pilotseat. So this was my first lesson. Before take off my flight instructor explained the instruments to me, we made the check up and a few seconds later my stomach told me, that we left the ground. First excercises: ups - downs - left - right. uhm, where are we now?

We flew to the Vierwaldstättersee, crossing Luzern and aiming towards the Zugersee. After the short flight we flew back to Birrfeld. But which direction? After a short look on the map it was totally clear: somewhere over there must be a highway and a little river which is ending in the Hallwilersee and then there is somewhere a castle and then the Aare, which is a big river and then and then and then... okay let's fly in this directions which means Northwest.

A little time later we arrived safely in Birrfeld, where we took off. At the debriefing my flight instructor explained me how to land a plane, which was the most interessting point for me, cause that's the reason why I wanted to do this lesson anyway.

After hearing that I couldn't wait to go in the air again to try to transfer theoretical knowledge into practical action.

While my husband was landing, flight instructor and me prepared the plane to take off again. Back - without ground under my feet - we/I made a few landing excercises and my FI showed me a stall (woah).

Preparing for final landing: Flaps 1, left turn and flaps 2, left turn and finally flaps 3... uhm where's my gate? Passing a tree and aiming the first arrow on the runway we descended down with I guess 800 ft/min. I guessed because I was looking at the end of the runway and... thank god my FI was with me in the Piper.

My husband was so proud and I was so exhausted and tired. In case of emergency, which I hope will never happen, maybe I have to be able to land the plane.

And so I think I should invest some time, courage, money and nerves and do some more lessons and learn how to land a plane.
